Sofi is designed to fit neatly on most kitchen countertops without taking up too much space, while still giving you room to grow up to 12 plants at once. The base measures 15.6 inches (39.6 cm) long, 7.1 inches (18 cm) wide, and 3.7 inches (9.4 cm) high. With the light fully raised, Sofi stands 17.5 inches (44.5 cm) tall, and the adjustable light can be moved from 2.4 inches (6.1 cm) to 13.2 inches (33.5 cm) above the grow deck as your plants grow, giving you space for everything from smaller herbs to taller plants like cherry tomatoes and chillies.

Getting started is easy:

• Lift the grow deck and fill the tank to the maximum water line
  
• Add nutrients as directed on the bottle (5 ml per 1 litre), then place the grow deck back on top
  
• Add your seeds into the coco coir grow cones — just a small pinch for tiny seeds, or 2–3 seeds for larger ones
  
• Place the grow cones into the plastic cone holders, then insert them into the holes in the grow deck
  
• Plug Sofi in and turn it on
  

That’s it — once Sofi is set up, the main ongoing care is simply changing the water every 2–3 weeks and adding nutrients again.

Sofi uses a simple hydroponic growing system, which means your plants grow in water instead of soil. The built-in grow light gives your plants the light they need, while the water tank and nutrients feed the roots directly to support healthy growth. You simply fill the tank, add nutrients, place your seeded grow cones into the grow deck, and switch Sofi on. From there, Sofi helps create the right environment for herbs, leafy greens, cherry tomatoes, and chillies to grow indoors in a clean, simple, and beginner-friendly way.

This depends on what you’re growing, but in most cases the 4L tank should be completely refreshed every 2 to 3 weeks. To do this, simply lift off the grow deck with the cones still in place. The roots will stay attached to the cones and plants, so we recommend placing the grow deck gently on a clean, flat surface. Then empty the tank, clean away any residue, rinse it thoroughly, refill it to the maximum water line, and add fresh nutrients again at a ratio of 5 ml per litre of water.

Sofi is best suited for plants up to around 11 inches tall. This makes it ideal for herbs, leafy greens, cherry tomatoes, and compact chilli varieties. Once a plant grows beyond 11 inches, it may begin to get too close to the grow light, which can affect healthy growth and may cause damage to the plant over time.

This depends on what you’re growing, but in most cases the 4L tank will last around 1 to 2 weeks before needing a top-up. Faster-growing or thirstier plants, such as lettuce, spinach, cherry tomatoes, and chillies, may use water more quickly and need checking more often than smaller herbs like thyme or rosemary. To keep Sofi performing at its best, we recommend doing a full water change every 2–3 weeks and adding fresh nutrients each time at a ratio of 5 ml per 1 litre of water.
